No Place Like Home
Free performances celebrate the music of master composers
Saturday, May 21, 3 & 5 pm
Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet's Founding Artistic Director Marcia Dale Weary is pleased to present No Place Like Home. This annual production is CPYB's way of giving back to the community for 55 years of support.
This year's production includes:
George Balanchine's "Raymonda Variations," a suite of solos and ensembles inspired by Russian composer Alexander Glazunov's uplifting score, exposes both the dancers' skill and the choreographer's musical genius
"de l'innocence," Alan Hineline's choreographic gem, set to Franz Schubert's "16 German Dances," in which CPYB dancers 'paint pictures of music'
Sean Lavery's "Twinkliana," set to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's familiar score, will whisk you away to former days in its youthful portrayal of childhood innocence
Hazel Sabas-Gower's "Green," a ChoreoPlan 2011 favorite crafted against the rhythmic workings of Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach's remarkable repertoire of dance-based music
Finally, you'll be treated to a preview of Hineline's newest work, "Diabelli Variations," set against one of Ludwig van Beethoven's last and most well-known sonatas for piano.
